Description:

FIS measure the departure of a population to the expectation of random (panmitic) reproduction. It measures how much the proportion of heterozygous loci in a sample departs from the expectations of random union of gametes. This statistic take values that range from -1 (Heterozygote excess) to 1 (Heterozygote deficit). The test used was the Fisher exact test, as implemented in Genepop software. A permutation test could have also been used.
