I study the biology, ecology, and fishery dynamics of California spiny lobster (Panulirus interruptus). My work emphasizes collaboration with commercial fishermen, and it is geared towards collection of management-relevant information. Basic life history information is gathered during MPA monitoring, because lobster populations inside MPAs are minimally impacted by fishing and allow for estimation of life history information such as growth rates and natural mortality. Such information is essential in fisheries management models that guide sustainable use of marine resources
